Lark Ascending

Swirling hues of blue, yellow, white and gold blend together in the foreground to elevate the rising white bird in the center of this wax/encaustic work. Specks of gold leaf are scattered across the sky and shimmer as the dove ascends.
The bird is made in ceramic clay and mounted on the board before the encaustic wax was applied. This gives a three dimensional quality to the artwork and the bird acts as a type of sun dial as the ambient light in the environment changes.
